Some more shelves

Today Daddy set up  my bookcase and hung my shelves on the wall.  It was so nice to get all my books in our new room and put my figurines on the shelves.  When I called Meiling in to see the shelves, she said, “Good life.”  I thought it was somewhat humorous.  Now for the pictures.

This shelf was my great-grandmother’s – now I get to use it

The bookshelf is somewhat hard to photograph, as space is tight around it and it is hard to fit it in the frame

Does anyone see a problem with this? It came with the bookcase

A Quick Update…

Meiling and I have been enjoying our new room immensely.  We purchased a bookcase to go in the corner yesterday and I am hoping that it will be assembled soon so I can put my books on it.  I also have been painting a shelf to put in our room for all our figurines to go on.  I thought I was done painting it, but when I got it inside, I saw a few spots that I had missed.  :\  I’ll have to fix those soon so we can get it up.  So that’s it!

Practically Finished

Well, I didn’t get to take any pictures yesterday,  but here they are today.  Daddy finished the dressers and the drawers under the bed, and he also put the closet back together.  The dressers, drawers, and closet are all still empty.  I am hoping to start transferring some things over today, but it is pretty late already.

We have the room mostly done.  There are still a few things we are going to add, like a bookcase on the on the left when you first walk in and I have a nightstand I want to stain and put next to my bed.

So here are some better pictures.

Another Room Update

We have made a lot of progress in the past two days.  I was up too late painting last night, so I didn’t get to post. Smile

I got all of the first coat of purple done last night, and finished the second coat today.  I was rather worried that I wouldn’t be able to finish the second coat, as I wasn’t sure there was enough paint left.  There was just enough, with a little left over for touch-ups.

A quick note – the colors are darker than they appear in the photos.

Mom and Dad are currently putting the bunk bed together.  We may be sleeping in it tonight!

What better thing to do with a large pile of boxes than to slide and roll on them?

I just went and took this picture – my bed is done (I think), and they are working on Meiling’s

Painting (Mostly) Blue

I got around to painting today, just like I hoped.  I have the blue wall all done, and I painted the sample of purple paint.  It is the purple I wanted.

This evening I took my new bedspread out and laid it on the bed that is currently in that room to see how it looks with the colors.  I think it looks good, and I’m getting more and more excited!

Mom is planning on getting the rest of the paint I need tomorrow.  My new bunk bed and dressers came today.  All we need now is a mattress and a mattress pad.

Almost Painting

I and my little sister are moving to a new room.  The room we are currently in is too small to accommodate two twin beds or a bunk bed, so we had to move.  Of course we have to paint our new room.

Today I have been working on prepping the room to paint.  I think I am ready to paint the one wall, which I will hopefully paint tomorrow.  I had the help of two of my younger siblings in wiping the room down and moving stuff out of it,  and a friend of mine also kindly helped, as she happened to be visiting.

The one wall I am going to paint is going to be blue.  The remaining three are going to be purple.  It is going to match my new bedspread, which has the same colors in it, just a few shades darker.

I am so looking forward to moving into our new room.  I will most likely post more when I paint – I hope that will be tomorrow!

Books

Do you like books?  I love books.  Books have taken over my bedroom,  with the overflow on the floor, the dresser, or on the headboard.

How many books do you read at a time?  I am a multiple book person, always having to have multiple books I’m reading.  I try to keep one book from different categories, so not having two history or two fiction books going simultaneously, but it doesn’t always stay that way. 🙂

So here is a list of the books I’m either reading, should be reading, or have a bookmark in.

“Household Cleaning” – I have been interested in using more natural products to clean with,  and this book has many ideas of things to use, as well as lists of what chemicals are usually in different cleaners, and how those chemicals are harmful to you and the environment.

“Ben-Hur” – I’ve really been enjoying this, and am about 1/3 of the way through it.  It has been pushed out if the way a bit for the above book, but I should be working on it again soon.

“The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Civil War” – Since I just studied the Civil War in history, I have been reading books about the Civil War.  I appreciated the bios on some of the generals during the war, as it ahs helped me keep them somewhat straight – at least who is on what side.

I also just finished reading “Productive Christians in an age of Guilt Manipulators” by David Chilton.  It was assigned for our economics course that we were doing together.  It was very good.  I am now going to be reading “Basic Economics.”

Have you read any of these books?  If so, did you like them?  What are you reading right now?
